Section 01

Who We Are

Forchetta ("we," "our," or "us") is a social restaurant discovery app that helps you save, organize, and share the restaurants you love. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the Forchetta mobile application and website (forchetta.app).

By creating an account and using Forchetta, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

What We Collect

We collect information you give us directly, information generated by your use of the app, and limited information from third-party services you connect.

We do not collect payment card data (processed by Apple App Store or RevenueCat directly), government ID, or sensitive categories of data such as health, financial, or biometric data.

Section 03

How We Use Your Information

We use your data only to provide and improve Forchetta. Specifically:

• Operate your account and sync your restaurant library across devices
• Display your saved restaurants on the map and in your lists
• Show friends' activity in your Discover feed (only people you follow)
• Send push notifications about social activity (new followers, comments, reactions) — you can disable these at any time
• Generate AI-powered restaurant recommendations when you opt in (see Section 4)
• Improve app performance, fix bugs, and develop new features
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

AI-Powered Features

Forchetta uses artificial intelligence to power optional features including personalized restaurant recommendations. This section explains exactly how AI works in the app, what data is shared, and your rights to control it.

What data is sent to Anthropic

Depending on which AI feature you use, the following data may be sent to the Anthropic API:

Your AI consent and controls

AI features in Forchetta are entirely optional. When you first create an account, we will ask for your explicit consent before enabling AI features. You may:

• Decline AI features during onboarding — you keep full access to all non-AI features
• Enable or disable AI features at any time in Profile → Settings → AI Features
• Use specific AI features on a one-time basis without enabling them permanently
• Request deletion of any data associated with AI interactions (see Section 9)

Section 05

Location Data

Forchetta requests access to your device location for two purposes: the map (showing your blue dot) and location-aware features like "Near Me" restaurant search. Location access is controlled entirely by you via iOS system permissions.

We do not request background location access. We do not track your location when the app is closed. Precise GPS coordinates are used only locally on your device for the map and are not stored on our servers.

When location is sent to Anthropic for AI recommendations, it is converted to a neighborhood or city name (e.g., "West Village, Manhattan") before transmission — never raw GPS coordinates.

Section 06

Social Features & Visibility

Forchetta is a social app. Understanding what others can see about you is important.

Your location is never shared with other users in real-time. Friends see your pins on the map only for restaurants you have saved — not your live location.

Third-Party Services

Forchetta uses the following third-party services to operate. Each service processes data under its own privacy policy, and we have selected partners who meet our privacy standards.

Section 08

Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide you with Forchetta's services. Here's what that looks like in practice:

• Account data: Retained while your account exists. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion request.
• Restaurant saves, lists, notes: Retained while your account exists. Exported or deleted on request.
• Push notification tokens: Deleted when you uninstall the app or revoke permission.
• Comments and reactions: Deleted immediately if you delete them. Removed within 30 days of account deletion.
• Anthropic API logs: Retained by Anthropic for a maximum of 7 days, then automatically deleted. Not used for AI training.
• Supabase auth logs: Retained for 30 days for security purposes.
• Anonymized analytics: May be retained indefinitely in aggregate, non-identifiable form.

Your Rights & Controls

You have meaningful control over your data. Here is what you can do and how:

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or California, you have additional legal rights including the right to portability, objection, and restriction of processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Section 10

Children's Privacy

Forchetta is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.

If you believe a child under 13 has created a Forchetta account, please contact us at privacy@forchetta.app.

Section 11

Changes to This Policy

We will update this policy as Forchetta grows. When we make material changes — especially to how AI features work or what data we share — we will:

• Post the updated policy at forchetta.app/privacy with a new effective date
• Send a push notification or in-app alert for significant changes
• For AI feature changes: require fresh explicit consent before the new feature activates

Continued use of Forchetta after notice of changes constitutes acceptance. If you disagree with a change, you may delete your account before the effective date.
